Mwt Nswt (Queen Mother) IMAKHU
Imakhu, known worldwide as "Water Woman" , and "Renegade Wise Woman", is a veteran performer, visual artist, activist, Kemetic Elder High Priestess, and ordained Interfaith minister.
As an actress, storyteller, and playwright, Imakhu stretches cultural boundaries with her one-woman theater productions. Her newest show, WEDNESDAY'S ARFICAN CHILD: GOTH TALES OF MY BLACK PEOPLE, unfolds humorously macbre aspects of African culture.
Imakhu's popular acoustic folk music CD, "Water Woman: Organic Flow," includes Imakhu's African drumming, folk guitar, singing, and storytelling. Her upcoming CD, "SOULstice" is due to be released in 2009.
As an ordained minister and Elder High Priestess, Imakhu has provided acclaimed Kemetic spiritual and metaphysical info to the community through her lecture mp3 downloads and her ebook, "The Cowrie Blessings Book: Nu Afrakan Words of Wisdom." Imakhu has become known and respected as an elder sister who "tells it like it is."
As a nganga (healer) of the Shona/Ndebele tradition and Pagan activist, Imakhu is faithful to her commission to build bridges of understanding between people. She uses the Internet radio station she founded in 2005, AKERU NuAfrakan Radio, now known as AKERU MultiMedia/RENEGADE WISE WOMAN RADIO, reaching out to the world with global news & politics, environmental issues, African-based earth religions, world music, holistic health. She also hosts/produces her radio/podcast show, NUBIA GODDESS RISING, which honors global Women's empowerment and the return of the Mother Goddess energy to the planet.
Imakhu's greatest passion is as a teacher, specializing in teaching performing/visual/literary arts to at-risk youth, senior citizens, and disabled populations.
Dedicated to the reclamation of African culture and global Sisterhood, Imakhu also shares the ancient metaphysical mysticism of the sacred art of bellydance for empowerment and global healing.
